living this last while. I sat down one
day after my last break up and decided to stop being made to feel badly for my introversion
but to also make a real effort to get out more to events that interest me and
stimulate me in the right ways. So I
went to parties where the only people I knew where the hosts, took myself out
to dinner at a place I wanted to eat and made more of an effort to make new
friends. It all worked. I was happier without an unrealistic

was striving to make the house feel more cozy by lighting candles, keeping the
lights off or low and if the TV managed to make it on it was the fireplace
channel. This also worked over the
holidays with entertaining. I took a
huge breath and let myself be more laid back again. I read for hours covered in pets forgetting
to eat or that company was coming. Over
the two weeks off I lost all track of time, worked on myself and kept pumping
out the tea lights. Even at the hardest

in the house and unless I’m cooking it feels like a soft back rub from someone
who cares. I actually wore it while
reading on the sofa one day and used the front pocket to help carry my
book. I later took that book out while
on the toilet and continued reading.
That is how awesome this sweater is.

feeling I had been trying for was working big time. Now, what about the hygge
in my mind? That has been flowing
also. I’ve spent quality time with
friends, no phones, less technology and made a real effort to connect with
myself. Getting back to listening and
speaking to myself kindly has not been an easy task. All this has however made it easy to connect

the company of others now, (even if it is only one other person) I listen more
attentively and I speak so much more from the heart. A friend has noticed how brutally honest I am
with myself at times. I have almost found
it unable to hold anything to me that does not bring in some hygge.

January. Is there more hygge to come
when the weather changes? I think
so. My goal is to work on my yard as
soon as spring comes to have a great place for summer BBQ’s, fires and to just
sit back and enjoy. I used to have
people over all the time but in the last few years my world got a little too
small. It’s time to hygge and bring back
a wonderful attitude of bonding with friends, enjoying nature (a little) and
appreciating what wonderful feeling a person can create for themselves out of
the cold.

Have you ever tried to wipe your ass with your opposite hand? Or have
you ever tried to get someone off with that same opposite hand. Not as
easy as it sounds. Go give it a shot I'll wait here.

My
point is change is not easy. I have so many examples in my own life I
could keep you here for days. In the past six months I've had a lot of
change laid on me. Make ups, break ups, make ups, break ups, health, money, friends, sex and love. All of it I tried to deal with with my
"good" hand.

But what happens when things don't work out the
way you think they will and you realize that "good hand" has done you no favours? What happens when you realize that "good hand" needs an
overhaul? I'm not suggesting you use both hands to
wipe your ass but what I am suggesting is sometimes the other hand
might do a better job even though it's super uncomfortable to try.

Before
my last relationship I had begun making my life very small. Friends had
changed, had kids and in many ways I felt like I didn't fit with anyone
anymore. A new friendship evolved into a romantic relationship and I
let it take the place of several friendships. Now here I am single again
and since Christmas I've made a lot of changes. I kind of feel like
I'm in a perpetual state of using my left hand all the time now. Over
the holiday I did probably the equivalent of six months of therapy (for
my shitty self esteem) in two weeks. I've explained it to a few people
that I feel like all of my insides were pulled out, examined and
bleached before being inserted back slightly incorrectly. Over dramatic? I think so. But I kind of need to gay man it up to prove
my point.

Change is terrifying. I've watched friends stay in
terrible relationships for years because they're too afraid to be alone.
The unknown of what that will feel like after years with someone, even a
shitty someone was too overwhelming. I don't think I've ever been that
afraid of change but I have been guilty of complacency in my life. I
put up with people treating me shitty and not changing how I should have been treated. Now that I'm approaching 40 I don't have the time for that
nonsense anymore. I think this might be one of the good points about
getting older.

So here I sit at my dining room table trying to
make sense of the change I have been through. Feeling so exposed after
all that therapy. I almost feel like a person who's been given a new
handbook on how all this is supposed to go. However I'm just learning
how to read English again and it's in Hebrew. And I'm not a Jew. Story of my life really
but thus far I've managed to muddle through and truthfully I wouldn't
change any of this for the world. All this change has provided me with
so much new opportunity. I now have the strength to spend more time out
of my introverted shell, I've made amazing wonderful new friends and
I've done a few things that need to be vaulted.

I'm happy to
report that even though I feel naked, new and very confused at times I
don't think I've ever been happier. I have the full support of a
wonderful new friend (who won't let me get up until this blog is finished) and this past year I've made a couple friends who
even though they are new to my life, look past my weird quirks and are
there for me 100%. That feels amazing.

So off I go with my left hand free and my right hand still MIA. I think she needs to stay gone a little while longer...
old blogging game. I’m not fully sure why it’s been so long and we can
talk about that another day. Today is the start of my little series I’d
like to call Cheers to the Diva Cup and my very narrow yet perfectly fine
vagina. <span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-CA;">

jokes and being totally grossed out by the Diva Cup I have gone down the road I
never thought I would. First, lets just back up and talk about how this
all came to be so you can get the full picture into my feelings about the cup
and how the hell I now have one.<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-CA;">

you hear things about things. While working at another agency we had a
talk about menstruation things and the Diva Cup came up. I had to google
it and was grossed right out. Mostly because I didn’t even use a tampon
until I was 30 thanks to all the emotional shit passed down from my
mother. Thanks mom. Anyway, I was now use to tampons and then learn
about Diva Cups and reusable pads! WTF. I felt all this was super
gross as in my book you throw all that shit in the garbage and return to the
sofa to eat chocolate during that week. End of story. Also, due to
lack of information, I just pictured having to pull out a cup of blood and with
my pants at my ankles toddle out of the stall at work to clean the cup.
Bloody hands and pants as co workers came in to see me in all my glory.
Then came my two phase education. I had begun listening to a podcast
called the Crimson Wave that was hilarious. Two chicks (feminists…whatever
that means these days) who talked to other comedians about periods.
Amazing. Even if you don’t have a vagina you should listen. Anyway,
so then phase two happened with 3 other work mates (all female) in a work
van. We were talking about periods, as women do constantly btw, and I
made a Diva Cup joke. Then it happened. “I use a Diva Cup!”
My holy grail! My unicorn friend! A real live person I personally
know who personally uses a Diva Cup! Now, when this kind of thing is
announced in a van that smells like homeless people the questions begin to fly
from all sides. “Are you crazy?
Does it hurt? Is it gross? Do you use it at work?” So calmly in the parking lot at work my
Unicorn explained to us that the Diva Cup can be left in for 12 hours, hadn’t
leaked for her and she didn't have to wear a pad to bed. It all sounded so good. No more trying to
smuggle a mega pad or tampons to the bathroom. No more trying (usually
unsuccessfully) at work to get a tampon in the right spot with one leg of your
pants off and foot on the toilet. Some of us have some extra bumps on the
road…just sayin.<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-CA;">

<span lang="EN-US" style="mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-ascii-font-family: Calibri; mso-bidi-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-CA; mso-hansi-font-family: Calibri;">Anyway after asking
questions for 20 minutes we left the van smelling like homeless people
ourselves with a new outlook on life and our lady parts. Not to mention I
was now seeing my friend differently. She was not a hairy lesbian with
picket signs, cats and a vegan diet because “meat refers to eating dick.”
She was a semi normal married mother of two who didn’t like to wear
underwear. What is not to trust really? So without others around I
asked my Unicorn all the questions I could think of. She was able to
answer every question without an angry environmental man hating reason.
This suddenly became something I could possibly get into…me.<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-CA;">

next weeks it was a conversation had many times in the office and
privately. To diva or not to diva. Then I had sex and remembered
that my lagoon of mystery is not made for a large swimmer. So to
speak. After that I had the odd second thought but ordered my very own Diva
Cup from the Amazon. Despite hearing they are available both at shoppers
and the granola homeopathic store. I will walk through shoppers with two
packs of pads and 4 chocolate bars but would rather ride a cotton donkey to
work then be seen in public with the big pink Diva Cup box. I can only
imagine playing the inflated price at the granola homeopathic store and having
the girl behind the till talk about the universe and how much she loves her Diva
Cup. “The stars and universe told me to use the blood in my plants.
It’s very special to me.” Lame ass.<span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Times New Roman","serif"; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-ansi-language: EN-US; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman"; mso-fareast-language: EN-CA;">

So we waited. Waited
for my next period after my Amazon delivery of the Diva Cup. It was it advised that I do a dry (literally)
run before my period which I didn’t do.
If I’m going in then I am going in when it’s needed. Thanks to my order of the Diva Cup my Amazon
is now recommending a selection of cat toys and sad movies. Thanks Amazon for that. Anyway, yesterday after an extra long weekend
of crying for no reason and cravings it happened. My night before period anger! I knew it!
I washed my Diva Cup and put it on the edge of the shower ready for the
morning. Sure enough, after my morning
poop I was ready!

*Now would be the time to stop reading if you don’t want to
know about the details of my lagoon of mystery and would like to maintain eye
contact with me in the future.*

Welcome back you filthy friend.

So back to where we were.
After my poop I get in the shower ready to use this thing. Remembering the directions I make it into a C
or a U depending on how you want to be facing it and give it a shot. Side note of things you should know about
me. My back kills in the morning and I
have really short arms. Even with a leg
up I could not bend far enough with my morning back to get into the right
spot. Also all I could here was my
Unicorn’s voice saying “you have to relax your vagina.” Don’t tell me to relax! Needless to say... I was not relaxed. So I walked away. After 2 tries I did what I had to do and left
the shower ashamed at my vaginal failure.

So my day went on as normal.
Period aggression, chocolate cravings and my one day a month unnatural
attraction to men. My back got more
limber and by the time I got home from work I had to have a shower. My new hair cut had made me feel relaxed and
ready to wash off all the little bits of hair.
So back in the shower I gave it a shot again. No success and some serious discomfort which
led me to text my nurse friend “how do you know if you still have your
hymen?” In retrospect I should have explained
why I was asking.

So after eating a can of shame food. (Spaghetti and meat balls and a chocolate
bar.) (Don’t fucking judge me!) I yet again went to the shower to give it a
shot. I used a very soothing low tone to
let my vagina know it was cool to relax, chill out and just be cool. I should have hummed some Bob Marley. Anyway, after 3 tries it worked! Well, it was in and not feeling like I was
going to die.

As I am writing this it has been almost 2 hours. I have gone for a walk with the dog and
thought about twirling. Thus far we are
all good. I don’t know about the trauma
of emptying this thing but as far as I’m concerned I am signing off with a cup
in place and the granola lesbian gods smiling down on me.

I'm guessing only in America since Canada is busy making sure beer and smokes aren't getting over taxed again. It's how Canada is. We don't have to have days to celebrate everything. We just have a hot dog without all the fuss. I might even bust out some frozen sausage for dinner just because it's that day. Much like women hot dogs are great in theory but are terrible for you. That's a joke. I still like women and have not become more jaded then usual. Insert happy winky face here.
I don't like to think about what is in a hot dog. Learning about vegans and all that has put me right off the traditional made with about 400 chemicals. Now if I need to shove something phallic in my mouth I go to a butcher, that way I know what's in them. Sunripe has a hot dog with about 7 ingredients so that's something a little better. I do sometimes get the vegan dogs. They taste like a finger without a bone in it.

Today 3 clients have come in smelling like they just sit in their clothes and smoke all day in a closet. I don't know how anyone can sit in an office with the door closed talking to these people. Good lord. My area is open and I still smell them like they are on me blowing smoke in my face. "They" suggest you never smoke before a job interview but I'm starting to think smokers have the smell woven into their clothes. God knows my wonderful parents smell like they just came from bingo in the 70's some days. I used to smell like that constantly when I lived at home. Gack!

It just rained but tonight I am suppose to run the sprinkler at the neighbours. I'm going to run through it, or sit in it. Either way a spray of water will go up the leg of my shorts until it reaches my vagina.
Anyone else’s wiener dog shit on the bed this week? No just me? That’s what I thought. Needless to say I had two loads of laundry done by 7:30 am. When I asked Norman Earl “Who did this?” he flipped over and showed me his penis. I don’t know who that worked on in the past but he is really barking up the wrong tree. Needless to say someone needs some retraining. I’ve spoiled him. I own it. Either way things are going to have to change.

I feel oddly unsure of this world right now. People are leaving dogs and babies in cars every day, 5 people have been hit by busses lately and in Florida it seems to be ok to kill kids (thanks for starting that ball running Casey Anthony.) I think people are so self absorbed and think nothing will happen to them, that is when accidents and stupidity happen. Hey, I’ve done some stupid things and luckily didn’t get caught or hurt. Still, leaving a kid in the car when you run into shoppers for 3 things? You don’t know how long the line will be. I don’t care if the kid is sleeping or what. It’s not right. Don’t get me started about Dogs. Leave the pets at home to enjoy the cool air-conditioning. They don’t need to go to the hot summer festivals or with you to the store. I love the video of the vet sitting in the car for a half an hour. People don’t think. I love that people are getting in the faces of these jerks waiting by the car or breaking windows. This to me is acceptable.

The creepy man who is always in a bathing suit a few doors down has been up blaring 80’s music at 6 am every day this week. Last night he cut the grass in his stained bathing suit and drenched in sweat he felt the need to go up his pant leg and rearrange his man tackle. Even Norman Earl found this disgusting. I felt like a lady from the early 1800’s in my floppy hat all Christian perfect judging his public sin. I guess if I had big hairy balls and a penis that were very sweaty I would want to fix them too. Still, he had wiener sweat on his hand and went back to touching things. I would never do that.

Some of the workers at work took clients to the beach this week. I’m glad I’m a receptionist. My body was not made for either the beach nor this heat. Putting them together does not sound like a fun day at the beach for me. Literally and figuratively. I don’t know what I would do if I had to stand with some poor client sweating on the beach for hours. I’m sure I would fake some sort of car trouble or something along those lines. When it feels like 45 outside this girl will be inside with her wrestling DVD and playstation. My friend working in a rehab has managed to fish clients out of a neighboring pool almost every day. At this point the older couple now calls asking for her letting her know when the clients have come for a swim. If I didn’t have air I would be trying to break in a yard to swim. It’s fair. My Asian neighbors have an above ground pool that is not being used. That’s right. Two kids perfect age to be the most popular kids ever and they aren’t able to use the pool. I think they used it once last year and this year just let it go. Perhaps it’s a cultural thing or the pool needs help and he doesn’t have anyone to ask what to do. Either way it’s a waste of a pool and better not be attracting some new kind of diseased bug to bite me.

Why? Well despite not great news the diabetes wake up call did wonders

here we are a year later and I’m up and down with the weight and
despite some acting out and not listening to myself a few times I’m
actually very happy with life. I wouldn’t say Diabetes was the worst
deal ever but it woke me up a bit to the unhealthy choices I’ve made in
my life. Either way I’m working it out the best I can. I’ve been lucky
really. I was reading about some of the side effects and it says women
are more prone to vagina infections. Knock wood my hot pocket has
never had any issues. I keep that shit buttoned up.

As per any good Canadian long weekend, it’s raining. Regular people are up in arms about this but as nothing about me is regular I am excited by the prospect of rain all weekend. Mainly because I’ve been chomping at the bit to reorganize a few things at home and read. I love the rain and curling up with a good or bad book with the sound of the rain outside is one of the best things there is. Seriously. This morning when I had the dog out I felt like a little kid. The rain was heavy enough to create a good little flow in the gutter so in my flip flops with my little dog up on the grass I walked right in the gutter feeling the flow of water all around me. It was wonderful. I walked extra slow to enjoy even longer since I was sure the dog was not going to tolerate the rain for very long. We walked up and down the side of the street allowing me to enjoy the flow covering my feet while he sniffed then begged to go back home. If I had of done this alone I would have looked like a crazy person. Thank god for that little dog not blowing my cover of weirdness. Good Boy!

So I’m done sugar coating this blog to save anyone’s feelings. Right now I am at work with a wicked case of the shits. I place full blame of this on my mother and the shake mix her friend told her she had to get while in the states. Right now I am sitting on what feels like a lit curling iron up my ass. Everyone at work has been very understanding however I don’t need everyone knowing the 15 minutes I just spent in the bathroom was me praying that I don’t shit myself while at work. I think we have all been there. I know if I got the shits at home I would be on the bowl reading happily and not focused on my now burning leather cheerio.

I choose to take this as a sign that I should order the 20 dollar gel filled toilet seat from Regal. That and my ability to read 1000% better while on the bowl. Plus I just like to read on the toilet. I sit there reading and peeing or pooping at will. Yes, sometimes my legs fall asleep but when all is said and done I love it. I’m like someone’s middle aged Dad. Reading on the bowl is my deal. My Grandfather (as was told to me) used to sit on the toilet with the newspaper on the floor in front of him. Bent over he would leaf over the pages while taking his time releasing the hounds. Yes, I’ve actually been shitting while looking at Norman Earl and saying “Release the hounds!” He loves it.

Why am I telling you? My loyal ten(‘s) of readers. Why not? We all do it and most of us manage not to shit themselves while at work. With some of the stomach problems I’ve had over the years I could open a beer with my butt. Honestly. I’ve clenched my buttocks for miles without one drop of excitement leaking out. As I get older my trust for both my bowels and my bladder is shaky at best. You never know. As women get older they pee when they laugh, sneeze, cough, bend over, lift something heavy and breath too deeply. Amazing deal. Not every woman mind you. I of course am painting with a very broad (ha! Chicks are also called broads) stroke. Still, it happens. I wonder if Mrs. Duggar has a catheter at this point. I mean so many bodies have pressed on her bladder I’d be shocked if she didn’t have a cotton towel under that skirt catching what falls out. I bet she pee’s if hit with a good strong wind. Gross. How does Jim Bob even manage to get her pregnant at this point? Don’t think about it.

Either way thank you my ten(s) of readers for helping me win my wrestling match with the extreme scooters today. You are a great listener.

Apparently putting on my underwear correctly was a bit of a stretch this morning. I don’t fully know what’s wrong but thus far I’m waiting for appointments to cool down before I fix myself. These are one of my good pairs too! Either way should my pants fall down I will be wearing clean and excitingly cool looking underwear. That’s a bonus.

Look at me boring the shit out of you people three days in a row. I’ve decided that during my downtime I will do my best to blog since I need to both look busy and keep my comedy mind working at all times. Writing helps with ideas so really this blog deal is an investment in my writing future and exercising my smart ass remarks to you guys. So really you should all be thanking me. You’re welcome guys. No problem.

Last night after a long day at work and a bad night for Basement Girl (Lets just call her what my Mother calls her from this point on. BG.) So BG and I opted to have some share the same home bonding time with a burger and some Value Village Shopping. Swank I know. We both have a slight addiction to the book section of Value Village so every few months we end up there scouting the books. Last night and 28 dollars later (a little much for used books but I have no self control) we both walked out feeling happy with out purchases. I of course gave into one of my biggest guilty pleasures. Biographies of almost any sort. I love a good biography of an interesting celebrity or historical figure who has lived an interesting life. These books I mostly read in the shitter or on rainy days when no one is around to mock the glint in my eye and smile on my face. I am sure my mother wishes I had discovered this type of book when I was young. Summers at the cottage usually cost her and my grandparents about 50 bucks in books to keep me busy. I think this was where I began stealing books from the school library. Needless to say the security of Cartier PS Library was non existent. You filled out the little card and put it in a little bucket. I learned early on to leave my card blank and not return the book. Good luck finding me Mrs. O’Brian! This lead to the great cleaning out my room in grade 8 resulting in about 60 library books that had been stolen over the years. Sneaking them back into the library was no small event. I ended up filling my back pack about 3 times and hiding the books in the closed off area where crap was stored. I managed to get them all back without being discovered or my Mother calling to follow up.

Clearly my obsession for books started early. My mother was and is still a reader. I don’t know how you can not be a reader when one or both of your parent’s faces are pressed into a book much of the time. From the age of about 12 I tried to relate to my Mom via books. At the cottage I would read the books she had just finished. Usually a mystery or a Danielle Steele book. You would think I had an unrealistic view of love based on the romance books I was bored enough to read while with my family. As an only child I had to read to amuse myself. Reading eventually turned to writing and coming up with my own story ideas. If I could only focus enough to write my own book.

So the purchases made last night were as follows:

* Margaret Trudeau Bio. Newer and talks about her mental health issues.

* Meredith Baxter (Elyse Keaton – the Mom on Family Ties) is a lesbian now. So that should have some good action.

* Book about a dog that races and 2 people have told me I need to read.

It might be early today but I might be on the track of getting back to my normal level of tired. I typed that and yawned. Damn it all to hell! I did managed to sleep without moving until 3 am when I woke up with a full bladder. For about 5 seconds I thought about peeing myself then got up and staggered to the bathroom. I might have fallen asleep on the toilet for a bit because at some point I noticed that my head was against the wall and my eyes had been closed for a while. Either way I went right back to bed and slept like a large baby.

Basement Girl will often work nights and another morning shift on no sleep. This is not something I could do. I was offered some relief hours at one of the group homes but aside from the fact that I would be working with hardened criminals I would have to work nights much of the time. Now I could work nights and it’s not that I’m a princess and I’m too good to work nights, which could be part of it since I am a princess and could maybe be a little too tender to work nights. Anyway, enough about me being tender. The issue I have with working nights is that when my father was working nights be was very sick with the diabetes and got worse. It jacked so bad with his system and his memory that he “retired” early. I always felt bad for him. He loved working at the College and still talks about it like he just stopped working last week. Mom and I roll our eyes but aside from us it’s really all he had.

I went to the store on lunch and when I was getting a diet coke I noticed in the cooler of the store they had those variety store sandwiches for almost 5 bucks. Jesus. How hungry does someone have to be to buy one of those? You don’t know when or where they were made and the meat I’m guessing is all slimy. I wonder if people eat these on a dare. I’ve seen the hamburgers in there too. Who just buys a 5 dollar burger that’s been in a fridge for who knows how long and heats it up? Gack. That doesn’t seem right at all to me. I don’t think this has ever been ok but honestly besides stoners with the angry munchies who would go into a store and buy this? I seriously might buy one just to analyze this. By that I mean to take it apart and do some quality testing and not that I bought one and ate it already. I promise. That did not happen.

I guess sometimes I wonder about things. I think it comes from being a people watcher, evaluator and general 5 year old about the world. Last week I grilled another new staff who spent 4 years working in Nunavut. The poor girl. Thank god she’s the new Mental Health person or she might not have been ready for my barrage of questions for 45 minutes. Bless her. The highlights that were not sad included fun food facts such as paying $9 bucks for a cucumber, fresh food being flown in and freezing on the way due to altitude and a huge pack of 24 rolls of toilet paper on sale for $58 dollars. I am assuming in those homes 2 ply is unfolded to 1 ply and the 3 squares rule is law. Jesus. One of my after a weekend of eating bad poops would cost about $6 bucks. I don’t want to think about my period.

Another fun fact is she confirmed they do have 30 Days of Night (minus the non English speaking vampires) and 30 days of light. Seriously! I could do the dark as I love the dark but the light would jack with my system too much. I can nap the shit out of a sunny day but I think it not being dark when I have my big sleep would mess with me. She did say that when it’s dark, it’s dark. Black. The streets have some huge lamps so you can see in the downtown but that’s it. Some times it gets a touch light. Kind of a dusk but that is it. How awesome?!?! She did say that when it’s light all the time the native people are up at all hours and think nothing of not going to work and hunting all night and camping. It’s a cultural thing. Fascinating! I would love to go for a visit but I could not live there unless I was rich. Also I could not live there if I was rich due to the poverty and I would end up giving up a ton of money to kids without teeth or food.

Sometimes I look a the world from the eyes of a jaded approaching middle aged chick with bills to pay and other times I amaze myself with my hilarious innocence at the places I have yet to go and the billions of things I don’t know. Aren’t I just a ray of sunshine today.

My friend Sheena (not real name to protect innocent) used to tell me she felt punch-drunk all the time. I didn’t fully get it until this week. Now I am completely behaving in a bewildered, confused and dazed manner. So after a long break this blog could be interesting, confusing and bewildering. Be worried.

Again I have let the blog slide. Sorry to those who check and find nothing updated. I have started many topics but end up getting distracted and not finishing my thought or posting. No excuse really, just busy and spending my time keeping up with house stuff and friends. The new bed is still fairly amazing. Still firm and I still feel like it’s a big girl bed. High, well made, and with the headboard snazzy. I do have a funny story about my headboard.

So as any adult knows sometimes when things are happening the headboard hits the wall and it sounds like someone is being murdered. Sometimes. Anyway. After getting the new bed I was determined that this nonsense stop so I can enjoy sex without the fear of basement girl thinking I’ve joined an armature wrestling team. (Team as in two, it’s a queen size not a king.) Anyway so when the bed was delivered and I had it all made up I trotted off to the bathroom and got two of the thickest most industrial maxi pads that I could find. Why? Well they are now protecting my newly painted wall and the back of my headboard from hitting the wall during…wrestling. The wrapper is not visible and the wrestling thus far has been muffled by the good people at not-name-brand maxi pad company. It hasn’t marked the wall and basement girl can’t tell when I have company. SCORE!

I wish I could take full responsibility for that idea. Sadly many years ago my Great Grandpa decided that with a free sample panty liner would prevent a wall mirror from touching the wall. This is the kind of handy people I come from. In his defense he had no idea what the pad was for as Granny hadn’t had a period since just after WW2. Always a thinker that man was.

So thus far I’m at work still exhausted. It’s Tuesday for Christ sake and I am acting like I was at a rave all night. Yesterday was worse. I was up late Sunday on the phone with a friend and that seems to have jacked me all over the place. I have had a few late nights over the weeks but I have been able to bounce back quite well. Sadly yesterday, Monday, I spent most of my day trying to stay awake and focus on some fairly simple tasks. That didn’t go amazingly well. I came home, got a 2nd wind, pulled some weeds, BBQ’d and then showered. In bed by 9:30 I passed out for the night and woke up bewildered in a confused and dazed manner. So of course Norman Earl had to get up when I got up and needed out right away. Only able to see out of one eye I managed to get clothes on and get him out before any accident’s happened. Shockingly I managed not to fall down my front steps or kill myself walking across the street. Now I’m at work, semi more alert then yesterday but still oddly tired. I’ve checked my sugars and they seem ok. Maybe I just need a good rest or a vacation. Laurie and I are debating on another weekend away but for now I think resting up and getting things done quietly around the house would prove to be less stressful for me in the long run.

I have about 6 home projects on the go. Sadly my own adult ADD has gotten the best of me so a few things are half done and it’s getting on my nerves. I wonder if Amazon has a book for adults with ADD who can’t finish a home project? I’d only order it and read the first chapter anyway. I own that. Perhaps this weekend I can get a few things done. Sometimes I seriously think I should have gotten a condo. One of those fancy apartment ones really high with a big balcony. Then again I wouldn’t have found Fred. Stray street cats don’t make it up to the 20th floor.

Despite being exhausted I am blissfully happy. My off the blog life has been wonderful lately, work is going great and I’ve got some serious irons in the fire. If I could just get some extra sleep…

I’m being a total hypocrite but when did our culture feel the urge to share everything with everyone? I was watching a clip of one of the late night TV hosts talking about CNN and it made me really think. The clip in question had Nancy Grace talking to another reporter. Both were in parking lots reporting but the other reporter claimed to be in Arizona. If you were watching a bus went by in the background behind Nancy and 5 seconds later the same bus when behind the other reporter. They were about 15 feet away from each other in the same parking lot. In the same city. For Christ sake CNN. The late night host accused CNN of something called News Slaughter. Basically meaning they slaughter us with ever piece of detail, useless or otherwise about a news story. Case in point when someone is murdered we get dramatic reenactments, an exact replica of the crime scene recreated and every expert in the world talking about people they have never met. HLN and CNN have hours of news based a few details and interviews with people who have nothing to do with the case at hand. I’m sure if I ever kill anyone Cliff the ginger kid from grade 3 will be on TV going on and on about how I switched his lunch pail for mine that was full of mold and fruit flies thus making the entire class think he was gross. Yes, this could have been a turning point in life making me a horrible person.

I won’t lie. I have read too much on those 3 girls found in Cleveland. 10 years held captive and raped. I don’t even understand how someone could do that to three girls and allowing a little girl to be raised in those conditions. Now that these girls are “free” lets have every detail of their 10 years being raped by some gross old guy. What the fuck do you think happened people?! He kidnapped them so they could just hang out, read and do crosswords? Come on. Do we need to know? I think we can all assume. The thing that got me angry was the little girl born in captivity. Now she is “free” also but at some point she will learn to goggle and all her little friends will learn to google so they can learn all about how her bio father is a creepy rapist. Thanks for the heads up. I do have to give Germany or one of those European countries credit. When the guy had built his daughter some creepy hidden apartment and raped her for 20 years. She had 7 kids. Well Germany or wherever stepped up and gave her a new identity and moved her away. Thank you! Way to give that girl and her children a life that does not involve answering questions and providing updates we don’t need for the rest of her life.

I used to love a good true crime book or show. I miss the old school shows on A&E and a good murder mystery movie. Seriously who did not grow up Sunday’s watching Columbo and McMillan and wife? These days we have to know everything. We sit and watch Nancy Grace or pick up a book hoping we get to hear all about the details involving everyday life and sex. It’s almost that it’s our right to know exactly what happened. For some reason it made me angry that the world got the results on the DNA test done on the poor little girl in the Cleveland case. No shit she was fathered by him. Do we need proof and more importantly does the world need to know? I’m shocked we were not given the detailed metal records of them all after they were checked out at the hospital. Honestly! That will be next. No shit they were pregnant multiple times. I don’t think someone that crazy would wear a condom or have some sort of system in place. But for some reason we need to hear it, see it and feel it via everyone connected or not to the case. For what?

It used to make me think when they talked about JFK being shot on TV. Who hasn't seen the tape of him getting his head blown off about 100 times in their lives. It’s part of who we are now. I used to think about his kids. JKF Jr (who I loved) could just turn on the TV and see it. No warning at times. Now how would you like to be turning on your TV and with no notice watch one of your parents be killed…on a loop even. Then analysed over and over again. Now what if everyone in the world got to watch it too. I know that if I ever met JFK Jr (I would have humped him) I would have asked what that felt like to have something that awful put on display everyday. (After the uncomfortableness of my hump and generic conversation to get him comfortable again.)

Yesterday the body of a 32 year old husband and father was found. He was just trying to sell his truck online and went for a test drive. How do you even think about that? He said he would be right back to his wife. That must have been the longest night of that woman's life. The longest week really. Now she has years of hearing details, a trial and the case made an example of for years to come. Don't forget the joy of explaining every layer of that to their daughter. Totally heartbreaking. We will know too much.

I remember before the Bernardo trial and the publication ban in Canada. There were all these false details being reported just so people were kept interested. I'm ashamed to say I own 4 books on the whole Bernardo trial. The only good thing I can say about that whole deal is that the media at large does not see or speak to Paul Bernanrdo. He has tried and tried to talk to anyone who will publish anything about him or how he was wronged but thus far no one will touch him. Thank god. As much as even I would love to hear the rantings of that mad man lets respect the families who already live everyday without someone they love and will never hear another word from.

So I guess I've decided to not be so interested in the little details of these cases out of respect for the families. They should hear the details from the police and not from every news paper, radio, TV and splashed all over the Internet. We shouldn't know the details of how someone died. I like to think like birth, relationships and death should be shared with few. These three aspects of life should be respected enough to be private.

So I had four salads this weekend and feel like I could be dying. This healthy life style is for the birds, well I think birds are even eating meat and garbage thanks to this world. I guess I wish I was a bird right now. Wrap a worm in bacon and I’d eat it right now. Seriously.

Friday night was date night so we went to the works. Aside from the steam rollers that are the most amazing things ever created I gor a veggie burger with pineapple and brie cheese. The sweet and sour sauce that comes with it might be the stickiest yet most amazing thing ever. I also got onion rings that can never go wrong. The best I have ever had in my life. So that was my send off into a new healthy lifestyle. After that it has been juicing and healthy salads. Needless to say I’m hungry.

Saturday morning I spent about 40 bucks at the market on fruit and veggies. Then another 30 at the grocery store on other things I needed. Nothing was processed by the way. I didn’t go up and down the isles for anything that didn’t come from dirt of some sort. Hardfuckingcore I know but things do need to change in this little girls life. I don’t mind eating healthy…it’s just not what I’m use to really. How awful is that? When I think about how easy it is to eat processed food it’s clear why so many people struggle with weight and health issues. When I started here I discovered Wendy’s loaded baked potatoes. Sweet mother of baby lord Jesus! First of all anything covered with that fake melted 7/11 nacho cheese from my high school days is amazing. *I once when to this amazing mall in the states with Mike and Johnny and found a dive restaurant where they had that and would put it on anything. I had fries smothered with it and a hot dog.* Anyway, so with the amazing cheese you can get broccoli (lame) or bacon. My choice was clear and easy. I’ve had a few of them. The last potato was clealy made by a teen boy who loves bacon. I had a layer of bacon, then cheese then bacon. Bless his little heart. I don’t know him but I love him. It was amazing. I sat at my desk eating thinking I was being massaged from the inside out with love. Dirty and gross but it felt that amazing. It was warm and wonderful.

I love a hot meal. It’s how I was raised. You come home and have a hot filling meal. If you didn’t your mother didn’t love you and was a whore. Needless to say Debbie makes a mean hot meal that has been enjoyed by many people over the years. I wish my parents were more interesting but I was fed with love so thanks for that. These days I have fed myself for many reasons. Boredom, celebration, defeat, Wednesdays, friends, coupons and love. Don’t we all. I have a million reasons why I’ve celebrated things with food. I just picked the main ones to illustrate my point on how my health got so bad. I remember looking back when I was unhappy or unsure in a relationship I tended to eat a little more in my effort to comfort myself and to try and push the other person away. Sadly both never worked.

So I’m counting down the minutes until I get to eat. I smell a few lunches around the office but nothing too amazing yet. The school connected to the office hasn’t cooked anything that has smelled up the building in days so there is something. My first month here was filled with smells of garlic and what I am guessing was good hot meals. If I was more ballsy I would demand a hot plate for home. I live alone fuckers! Today I was wondering if they have been just feeding them sandwiches and juice boxes. I smell nothing. I need to know what’s happening! Yes…I’m hungry. My lunch of a full on salad with avocado, cucumbers and some seeds. I had a bun with it but still…it’s not the smell of what I was guessing was lasagna and garlic bread.

These thoughts are not helping my diet at all. In my last job I would have had the freedom to run and grab a stack. For the better of my health I only get a half hour lunch and nothing good is really close so its variety store food or what a bring from home. I’m doing fairly well at bringing food so that’s something good that I’ve managed to keep up with. I don’t want to be all hungry and angry when I get home from work either. I’m starting to think I’m lucky to live alone. I’m starting to think others are lucky I live alone too.

So good things are slightly coming to the one who waits without bitching and moaning all the time. I’ve managed to get a new bed, job is going amazing and was extended and I’ve been rather happy in my personal life. Sadly I watched another documentary on health and am now terrified.

Needless to say we are for sure going back to Meat and Pants free in every way again. This time I watched Fat, Sick and nearly Dead. Amazing and it actually really hit me. When you are unhealthy you tend to not think about it and think “it won’t happen to me” or next week I will start. I have been playing that sweet game for a while. My friend works in a high end rehab and has managed to gain 15 lbs in a month from all the amazing food that is available constantly to her. Plus, the chef seems to have a little crush on her so she’s been getting extra thick chocolate mouse every night. Have at her!

So the new bed came Saturday and after two nights of a bit of getting use to extreme firmness of things I seem to have gotten use to it. The bed is so high that I have to get a leg up to get in it. I felt very perched up in it and not very cozy. I’m almost over that now. Almost…but I find it funny I got the lower box spring and was going to change my mind. Another four inches would surely mean a hip replacement in a month or me falling out of bed full on peeing myself. I’m sure of it. Plus should Norman Earl opt to try and jump down he would be jumping down from about 4.5 feet. That’s an estimate but still the bed is so high that I feel like poor Norman could be hurt if he jumps. Also the bed has a cooling layer so we both have yet to wake up all sweaty. My pre-menopause sweating has stopped and Norman Earls little sweaty dog arm pits are a thing of the past! Sadly things have changed with us. He no longer sleeps under the covers. Too many farts and hot boxing him with the smells have kept him on top of the covers and in his Mexican Stand off blanket.

I just talked way too much about the dog. Lame! I’ve totally jumped from an amazing life changing movie, to the new bed and now my dogs sweaty little arm pits. What has this blog come to? A mish mash of my random thoughts as I think them with no rhyme or reason? Apparently that is how my mind works now. My work is very much like that these days. I do accounting, then reports and manage to help several Justice Workers at the same time. My mind is never on one thing for very long and even around the house if I’m not playing a video game I’m up and down doing whatever while watching TV or playing on the computer. What happened to just sitting and doing one thing? Or keeping focused long enough to write a blog on one topic?

I was talking to someone about trivia earlier today. My ability to remember completely useless facts and such makes me a great trivia person. Sadly if I was able to harness this trait at a younger age I could have focused on school and maybe stayed focused long enough to get a degree in something amazing and in demand. There should seriously be someone in schools who tests for whatever I have and gears some education toward helping me focus. I also think this person would be amazing for people with ADD so they could find jobs or schooling that keeps them busy. Some of the most successful people in the world have ADD. Why are they successful? Ability to multi task. Seriously we need to figure out how to let people learn what they are passionate to learn without barriers of useless courses they don’t find interesting or stimulating. That’s when people shut off. The longer you are shut off the harder it is to turn you back on to something. Be it work or a relationship. Think about people who are in a relationship for a long time and it’s lost it’s luster or something has changed to turn you off. If you leave it for a long time it’s much harder to turn it back on then if you work on it a day or two after a fight or change. Same thing with a job really. We get stuck because the pay is good, work friends, know the job and safety when really we could be moving forward or doing something that pays more in contentment then dollars.

So I guess it’s important to follow your nose to what makes you feel alive. The “It won’t happen to me” or “I’ll start tomorrow” attitude doesn’t always lead to the passionate life. I guess the best I can do it keep working toward starting today what will make us better tomorrow.

One more sleep until I get my new bed. I can’t even get over myself. I could nominate basement girl for person of the year right now. Due to lack of hours at her work she was way far to ok with spending her day expertly painting my bedroom in full. I don’t think she would ever get how much stress that takes off this chunky monkey. When I get home from work I really am not in the mood for much so the thought of coming home to a full on painting job is nothing I’m interested in at all. It had to be done…no point in getting a new bed in a bad juju room. Either way tonight will be spent doing laundry and getting everything ready for Saturday.

I’ve had a lot of struggles in the last while and despite being happy with some parts of my life I’ve really needed something to spruce myself and the house up. A new bedroom and bed is just what I need to give me something to look forward to and enjoy. Chances are I will be off in the summer unless something comes up so I have that to prepare for mentally and financially for that joy. I’m ok with it really. I love working but I do enjoy time at home with the boys a little too much. Who knows, I could be blogging daily, even hourly with all that time to my own thoughts.

As per usual I’m trying to set up a Buddy of mine with a girl from work’s brother. Usually my set up’s of my friends are terrible and don’t even get to the meeting phase but this one seems like it’s totally perfect. So this could mean one of two things…either they will be perfect together and fall in love thus staying together for a while and breaking up in a messy way blaming me eventually or they can meet and really feel nothing too exciting. Either way I’m determined to get a finders fee for this one. I think that’s fair. Honestly.

Clearly I’m a little jaded when it comes to love and romance. I think I almost always have been. People focus too much on what they think or want someone to be and not getting to know and enjoy who they really are. Or who they really are not. When people just don’t fit then it’s really best to move on. Why prolong things? I was given a hard time about a break up not long ago so it got me thinking about relationships. I don’t plan on talking trash or details but relationships but I realize I need a few things to keep me from even wanting a relationship with anyone.

For now that’s about all I can think of really. Maybe that’s why I seem to end up meeting people who either are on the way out of the city to follow a dream or living a dream outside the city? Hard to tell. Maybe it works for me in some way or better yet gives me the freedom to do all the things I want while getting a sampling of a relationship. Either way…I plan to keep trying to set people up. Even myself.

So last week at work I had a wonderfully conversation with a Drag Queen about giving back. I know that sounds odd but let me explain a little bit. First off I should explain that most of the time I’m scared of Drag Queens. Maybe I’m not in touch with my inner Diva the way I should be or the fact that a huge tall man looks more amazing as a woman then I do is weirdly threatening to me. At any rate I have always had a hard time making eye contact with a Drag Queen in full Diva. This Diva was in scrubs coming from a day job of helping others as a PSW dropping of some cash he raised doing a drag show and as a donation.

We talked for a bit and he told me about giving a woman crap for tossing out coats in the garbage. She had told him that she didn’t have time to donate them, she was too busy. He had told her “No, you mean you are too good. Too London to be seen at a place where someone might benefit from your scraps.” Now when you are in touch with the inner Diva inside then you have no problem telling some North London lady off. I realized I’ve done the same thing. I’ve been rammy and just wanted something done and cleaned out. I’ve tossed shirts I’ve never worn with tags on them in a garbage bag not caring. The more I think about it the more angry I get at myself. I remember a youth who was big looking for job interview clothes at Clothing Works and they had nothing in her size. She left feeling ashamed and I’m sure slightly more hopeless then she went in. And this Healthy Helga is just tossing plus size shirts away like I was done with them and too good to take the extra 5 minutes to put a bag together for Goodwill or Clothing Works. What a c-word. I was no better really then snobby North London woman.

I do have to say that I’m 100 times better then I was. I’ve seen people who have maybe 2 sets of clothes, hardly any food and no money to even wash their clothes. I’ve sat with them and had a chat about the weather and helped them with finding information. I’ve secretly judged but when you can’t really do anything big to help you build up a wall. I don’t want to think too much about what they are dealing with. I’ve been bitching about my bed being so uncomfortable. I have one and I didn’t fish it out of the garbage.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not trying to change the world or giving everything I have to a church or something. I’m just saying if we all took a minute or two and put our crap in a box for someone to use then maybe we would make a difference. So after my talk with the Drag Queen I made the choice to start putting aside house stuff for a youth I’ve been in touch with who is moving out with nothing. Why not? I would rather have my crap go a kid who has nothing then to Value Village where they over price it. I’m not a fan of that. I would donate to Goodwill since they are employing people and would not try and sell my gross used towel for 4 bucks. Just sayin.

A while back I put a message on facebook that a friend needed baby boy clothes for twins. My Buddy Kim and her friends (all seem to have a lot of kids) busted a nut getting me garbage bags full of clothes. Amazing. That’s what I would like to see more of! People asking for others and friends searching around and getting rid of what they don’t need to help someone who doesn’t have the cash for the basic things.

So lessons to be learned would be not to fear a wise Drag Queen and give back. It doesn’t have to be money or tons of time. Just making someone who feels like no one cares know that you took time to make sure they had some of what they need to do what we take for granted. Who wants to dry their balls with the same towel for 2 weeks until you have laundry money? So I’m going to try and give more. Life is hard enough so if I can make it a tad easier for someone with nothing right now I guess it’s good karma for me. Who knows where I will be when this contract ends? I could be needing some help. We all could at some point.

I don’t know what’s up with me these days. I’ve not blogged in far too long. Long enough that off hand I can’t remember what I last blogged about. So I think that’s a bad sign and who knows how long it will be until I loose this blog for lack of giving a fuck. Not the case but still. You get my point.

After the super long weekend I’ve really felt like doing nothing at all. I’m oddly tired and am uber protective of my time. I’ve been invited out several times but have said no. After working till 5 and rushing home to let the dog out I really don’t feel like doing anything with anyone. Even people I like. I don’t know if it’s just still getting use to working or a little realisation of time. After another birthday I seem to have realised that time is short and if I want to do nothing after work with my dog I’m going to do it. I do have plans this weekend so will see how that goes. I’m more then sure this is one of my weird phases…shocking that I have those but it’s true.

I’m excited to be going out with my sarcastically smart friends for a battle of the minds. It’s needed. Not that all my friends are smart but every friendship is built on something different. Meat, sharing books, sharing secrets, sharing Capri’s. Whatever. Needless to say a battle of the minds is very needed for me right now. I’ve shut mine off for a while and it’s more then time it comes back on.

Maybe I’m getting stupider? I’ve been playing video games, not writing and watching too many reality shows. At work I listen to Fresh FM which plays party songs and Pink every 20 minutes. I like Pink but they play the same stuff all day everyday…3 times a day. I can’t really do books on tape here. Maybe I should switch to CBC? I miss being as smart as I used to be. Honestly I was very up on things going on in the world. Now if it’s not on facebook I don’t know about it. Who am I? Some 15 year old girl who doesn’t believe life happens unless it’s updated on facebook? I hate people who go anywhere and have to spend the entire time they are at an even uploading pictures. Jesus! Enjoy the event and update after. I’ve basically made a vow that if I am out with anyone and they start checking their phone and texting that I will promptly go about my business elsewhere. I think that’s fair.

So I just realised right now I feel disconnected from life. Or I’ve connected to other parts of my life more then usual? Who knows. All I know is that I’m just not in the mood for anything or anyone really and its not personal. I’m almost glad my dating life is not very serious right now or I’m guessing it would be non existent! Lucky for me not much is expected out of me right now…so that works for me. I do tend to be known for keeping to myself but now it’s just part of who I am. Sometimes I almost feel badly for my family who never gets to see me but not really. I don’t think I would trade the peace I feel for anything.

I do keep getting pushed by people I’ve just met to do stand up. Maybe it’s something new or age but it’s almost scaring me more then it use to, or I’m just in a place where I feel it more? A friend who has had some major life changes in the last year is on a mission to do things that scare her this year. She’s done more then one thing that normally she would never do. I’m oddly proud of this for her. We should all do more things that scare us. Even me. I have done many things when I was younger that scare me…I’d list them but it almost feels too personal. I often feel that I can’t escape doing stand up at some point. I get huge hints and pushes to it all the time but as anyone could imagine standing on a stage being judged is terrifying.

Rhonda Kursackhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07008410375408808712noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6481717164606687773.post-86301542038077592112013-03-11T09:10:00.000-07:002013-03-11T09:10:47.093-07:00Chelsea Handler and the truthToday being Monday and me being unemployed it feels like Sunday. I know. Don't hate me. With the dreary rain outside it's a perfect day for a Sunday. It's even March Break so the kids across the street at the school are gone. Lucky for me the people next door seem to keep their kids in the house all the time so it should be a quiet few days. Basement girl is even gone so I'm shirt free without the fear of being caught. This is livin.

I've had another interview that went well so I'm back to waiting to hear back. I don't know how I feel about taking just a short contract but it's something and in this economy with this lack of formal education it's not anything I can pass up. I want to stay in social services supporting people but the not for profit game is a cold mistress when it comes down to funding and such. Still, I would rather do something I love that makes some difference in the world then push papers all day. But for those of you who push papers...push away.

I had a thought the other day how interesting it would be to just do contracts around the city at not for profits. 3 months at each kind of in a pool of people wanting to go somewhere new but stay in the same sort of work. With the burn out rate so high people could feel like they are in a new job everywhere they go learning new things about other agencies. Again, brilliant idea on my part.

I actually opted to skip Walking Dead last night and watch Oprah interview Chelsea Handler. As someone who has read almost all her books and loves a few comedian writers on her show I just had to. Despite her getting slagged for sleeping her way to the top I think she is actually one of the most talented comedians out there. She tells it like it is. I'm just starting to write jokes and this blog but the one thing I struggle with is being mean. I love how she can talk about her personal life that is real with just a whiff of poking fun at those in it. Honestly, I worry about what people think too much and that will be holding me back with writing and comedy. My personal life is hilarious. From who I've dated to who I've wanted to date. How can I not talk about my hilarity with muddling around this life and who I meet along the way.

Now, in reading that a few people probably just tightened up anally and are now scared and that is fair. If you can't laugh at life...what can you laugh at. I don't think I would ever make fun of anything super personal like an abortion or accidentally blowing your boss for a raise. However for the sake of being real and facing the good and bad...I'm not going to leave too much out. I don't run from my life or the challenges in it. I might hide behind a bush for a minute and regroup but this chunky monkey is not going to hide for long.

I think people don't know what to do with people like Chelsea Handler. They speak their minds, opinions and truths in a way that you have to laugh at. I do the best I can with that myself but sometimes, like the rest of the world I fuck it up. That's where the fun part comes in. You kind of can't make fun of someones truth when they are living it. Now...if you are busy running from your life and hiding behind everything that will stand still long enough for you not to be living your life...you can bet I'm going to make fun of that shit. ;-)

Remember one of my favourite sayings. Life is too short and no one gets out alive.
Enjoy life and have a laugh. My dream is to find my own place to make people smile. Last night I was made an amazing vegan dinner and this morning woke up with equally amazing thank you farts. Farts that when I took the dog out were still waiting for me 7 minutes later when I got back in the house. Still worth the great dinner and conversation. I also managed to "borrow" a copy of this years Ikea Catalogue.

I love the Ikea catalogue more then the store almost. The beautiful rooms all done up and happy possible Swedish and the odd Asian models in happy home life scenes. Amazing. Ikea has always had a special place in my heart. I think it's more the act of going. I went the first time with a friend from College years ago and have maybe gone 8 or 10 times. Mostly with my gay guy friends. The greatest trips to the store have been early on weekdays when the store is not full of fighting couples and people in general. So full that you can't enjoy the visit. See, that's the thing. For those of us here in London to get to Burlington or Toronto for an Ikea visit it's a big deal. It involves planning and excitement.

My meat soul mate Jason lives about 5 minutes away from one just outside Toronto. He and his wife think nothing of taking the kids for breakfast for a dollar and dumping them in the ball pit for an hour while they go shopping either in the store or close by. Amazing. They can just run over for stuff. That would be deadly for some of us if they actually built an Ikea in London. That rumour has been around as long as I can remember. Seriously, every year or so someone tells me "they are going to build one in Hyde Park" or where ever there is some new construction. Lies. I never get excited anymore...ever.

I honestly do not get why they don't open one here. We have a University and College for fuck sakes! There is millions of dollars in discount furniture sales for students right there! September would be a nightmare to get near the store but amazing sales. *Fun Fact. London has more retail sales for back to school then it does for Christmas. Or it used to. Seriously!* That fun fact alone deserves an Ikea!

I have had 3 Ikea sofas now. The one I have now I found online and though stylish its not as comfortable as the long blue one I had. I loved that one. It was as big as a single bed to lay on and back when I got it and this house (both were 4th hand) I had a great time breaking that sofa in with my girlfriend at the time. I miss that sofa. Great for naps and I think about 7 of my friends loved it for drunken sleepovers. No one peed it either. Thanks guys.

I've only eaten at Ikea once or twice. I didn't eat the meatballs, I know that for sure. I don't trust non homemade meatballs, they never seem to agree with me. Now with all the fuss about eating horse meat I honestly think people need to figure it out. Yes, I might be the worst person trying to be a vegan ever in the history of people trying to be vegan but come on. What do you expect from companies trying to make as much money as possible? If you want to know what is in your food then make it yourself. I found out last year that all most all Harvey's burgers are made with soy. Check it out.
http://www.harveys.ca/eng/allergy.php

Think about this. Depending on how the horses were raised their meat could be leaner. I am guessing if it found its way into dollar meatballs and fast food burgers they were raised for slaughter. I learned long ago there are too many horses out there thanks to HRT (hormone replacement therapy) since only pregnant horses pee makes the HRT stuff. (Gross) So they keep horses pregnant and out come more horses. Since we all don't have our own horse you can imagine how many extras there are. Personally I'm good looking slightly manly and having night sweats. I don't want to ingest horse pee...at all.

Its funny how the vegan granola crunchers I used to make fun of are now making sense. I honestly think people are tired of all the crap in food. Crap is ok here and there but I make it a point to buy as little canned food or processed shit as possible. Yesterday I saw this and had to say something about it. Now outside of summer if your kid is eating that many hot dogs...you suck as a parent. I'm sorry I'm not a parent but come on. I got thinking that now in schools you can bring peanut butter so kids sandwiches are lunch meat. I'm guessing not the good kid like a fresh ham or turkey but the shit kind you get in a package. Baloney is basically flat hot dogs and I've known people who feed their kids that daily. I bet that's 12 hot dogs a month.

Now I get that kids are picky and that's fine. But trust me parents. Diabetes, fucked up hormones and high blood pressure is picky too. It always picks those of us who ate like frat boys for too long and expected to be picked last like we were in school for sports. Little secret...that is our chance to get picked first.

So I plan on continuing to do my best to take better care of myself. Today that starts with a hot tea and slowly flipping my way into the new Ikea catalogue thinking about a road trip when I'm back on my shopping day trip feet. Rhonda Kursackhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07008410375408808712noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6481717164606687773.post-89253325392956662012013-02-28T06:15:00.004-08:002013-02-28T06:15:40.978-08:00NanaSo last night I had a dream about the love of my life. My Nana. For the record I really don't believe that soul mates and or the love or someones life could compare to a pure friendship or love of one's Nana. There is no comparison really. Friends and my Nana were always there. Romantic love comes and goes, heats up and fades. There really is no constant. (Anyone who says different watched too many Disney movies and clearly didn't think a few years down the road when Cinderella pops out a few kids and the Price is banging the maids. Cynical...yes. I don't live in a Disney movie.)

Anyway, back to my Nana. Apparently I've been watching to much end of the world zombie crap because I was in an arena like the JLC with my Mom, Aunt Nancy and some other lady. I left them for a bit and then either these meteors or bombs hit and all I knew was I had to go up to the way upper area where my Nana was in a hotel type room. Way to go Nana. So in a crazy emotional state I told my Mom to leave and I would get Nana and raced around fighting crowds and these three Jesus loving girls who were doing crowd control. I called one of them and the lord some very choice things. I told the three lord lovers to look for an old lady who looked like Betty White. They tried to hold me back but I raced around. Finally they found her in a line.

Now, I should say that since my Nana died I've had about 4 dreams about here where I could kind of feel her. I crave them since I miss her so much. I choose to believe it's her way of comforting me. So, when I saw my Nana in the dream I felt so excited yet at peace. She looked almost spry and so happy to see me. (It was the end of the world ish in the dream so I'm guessing she was glad we didn't just leave her there or anything like that.) Hugging her in a dream is no comparison to a real hug of someone you love that much but for the first time in a while I felt a real calm. I got a chance to hug and hold my Nana for a bit and after that the dream was kind of over. She never seems to stay long but always gives me a dose of what I need.

I'm sure I will blog more later but I kind of wanted to get that out.
I'm very tired, cold and feeling a little off. I'm fairly sure grilled cheese and tomato soup will help with some of that. It's not a miracle or anything but it can't hurt right?

Last night a friend and I stayed up late playing a war game on the PlayStation. She didn't fully get the attraction until she started playing and like me tuned right out. I don't think teens should be playing these games at all due to the violence but I have to say adults seem to find real relaxation in checking out. You don't have to talk about anything deep or think really. It's almost liberating. Right now I've given up the Western game in replace of a war game. I even downloaded a WW2 update! It's very hard but I love the historical aspect of it.

Now that I have tuned out and have my comfort food (I'm sipping on hot tomato soup from a mug and it's heavenly) I have opted to do a bit more with my time off then volunteer, read, hang out with unemployed friends, babysit (loved it) and clean the house I've decided to re-do one of my favourite Buddhist work books ever.
I know some of you think how can someone who loves dick jokes and titty humour think they are all zen? I am not at all saying I'm an amazing Buddhist who meditates 3 times a day and treats everyone like a baby bird. I take what works for me out of teachings. Several years ago I feel in love with Cheri Huber, the writer of the workbook and many other Buddhist books that dumb it down and make you think. Kind of books for the rest of us. I've collected several of them and refuse to loan them out to anyone I've not known for a minimum of 5 years. I'm fucking serious.

Anyway, a few years back when I got the workbook basically because it was a Huber book. I looked at the first pages and saw the questions and put it away with the collection. Why? The book was asking me to look at myself and I wasn't ready to do that. At all. I really don't care how cool, new age, zen or free spirited you think you are but when you pick something negative about yourself and examine it you want to close the book too. It takes a lot to really look at yourself. I'm fairly happy with myself but the last time I did the work book I really had some honestly moments.

Now, I'm not saying I was fixed or am the best person in the world. But one thing I try to do is be honest about my feelings. This combined with my trying to be more assertive has had it's moments of going well and well....sucking large. Sometimes it seems as a woman when I am honest it goes one of two ways. I'm either a bitch and heartless or someone tries to talk me out of my feelings. I love that. Apparently I'm this big passive teddy and a little "it's ok, give it time, are you sure, just think about it?" is going to make me completely change my feelings? To tell you the truth...the passive part of me has let this happen. I know. We have all done it. I've done it to a fault over the years. You don't want to upset or hurt anyone so you agree or back down. In the end you only hurt them and yourself more. Then you become a bitch. HA! Life is fun that way.

Anyway, I'm more perfect then I was when I first did this book so will see how my issues and views have changed. I do enjoy learning about myself and figuring out why I do what I do. I am fairly sure there are some people out there who would love the answers too. I think looking at yourself is a wonderful exhausting thing. Let me be clear that looking at yourself doesn't involve other people. I learned that the hard way. "But he hurt me!" Looking at who did what to you isn't going to get you any more enlightened. In fact you will be stuck asking why they did something to you for the rest of your life with that shit sucking attitude. I felt wronged for a long time then finally I took a long look at myself and said "What about me thought it was ok to accept that for as long as I did?" Everyone wants to blame someone else for their feelings these days. I know...I'm ranting but come on.

Anyway, so today I will pick out a fresh journal from my stock pile of journals and start my workbook. Maybe I will toss some Tony Robbins in there and become a millionaire over night. Rhonda Kursackhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07008410375408808712noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6481717164606687773.post-84462051709895809382013-02-23T13:05:00.000-08:002013-02-23T13:05:01.486-08:00Fake Meat while Pants FreeI do like to make people happy and after going over requests for topics (keep them coming) I opted to not talking about sex you filthy perverts and instead talk about cooking today.

STILL being unemployed means everyday feels like a weekend but I do like to make the weekends semi special so I opt to use this time for dates and cooking. Today I decided to stretch that non existent food budget and make a shit ton of pasta sauce filled with far too many vegetables and fake meat. I have an evil plot to fool myself into thinking that if the sauce is full of vegetables I won't eat as much pasta. Yeah...I'm already laughing too.

So I've already opted to make enough so that I have to use the long centre burner on my stove and mix everything in a roasting pan. I've done this before and it's a life saver. Who needs a pot when you have a penis shaped burner that also has an attachment for pancakes. Men would be a bigger selling point if they had a breakfast food option with the penis. (Save the baby batter jokes...I invented half of them.)

I also dug out my good Paderno chopper. Now follower bitches you should know two things about me in the kitchen. I love bleach and Paderno! If you don't know what Paderno is let me express to you the value of quality cookware. Now I know that unless you are getting married most people buy what they can afford as far as pots and pans and that is fine. However if you spend the money, respect the stuff and use it the right way you won't ever have to replace it. Paderno is a (used to be) made in Canada stainless steel cookware. They have branched out now into other kitchen stuff but they were known for pots and pants. Home hardware has sales on it a few times a year and as always my Mom and I are there fawning over a piece we don't have. The last sale we went to I got 3 cutting boards (black ones in the back) and a handy food chopper.

Now I know there are choppers just like this out there. I had one that I liked but had to replace it as the side nipple (yep...it's a nipple) snapped off when I was chopping something. The Paderno one is basically the same but with more inserts and said nipple has yet to flick off under my chopping demands. So good.

I love a good kitchen gadget. I think days like this when I do cook and get out a good pot, use more then one burner on the stove and dust off the chopper I think I'm the fuckin shit in the kitchen. I'm not at all cool in the kitchen but since getting really good quality knives for Christmas 2 years ago I seem to think I could get my own show on the Food Network sharpening the knives and chopping things. I give it two episodes.

In the past I have talked about the fake meat and I've taken a picture of the cooking of said fake meat. It's not bad but if you have the high blood pressure watch the salt. It can be a bit much depending on how much you eat. I have enjoyed in as taco's but really like it with pasta. The sauce and the veggies kind of mask the texture and you really can't tell it's soy based.

Since I'm shoving the importance of good cookware down your throat I should mention that the pan I'm cooking my fake meat in might be the best thing ever. It's what's apparently called an everyday pan. Basically because you use it for everything...and I do. I've cooked everything in it. It always comes back to great shape and cleans up super easy. I treat it well too...it's my Jesus of cookware. Where I go when times get hard and bacon needs to be cooked. Amen.

Everything is now cooked and soon the to be divided up and packaged for the freezer. I did have a small bowl of macaroni and sauce...amazing. I honestly think I might try something else to freeze.

So if you take anything away from today's blog is to invest in good pots and pans and use bleach. Seriously, if I ever meet the perfect person for me there will be a small war if it's even suggested we not use my kitchen stuff. Seriously.

Rhonda Kursackhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07008410375408808712noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6481717164606687773.post-20256031801484684242013-02-22T05:17:00.002-08:002013-02-22T10:27:44.038-08:00Eggs and lesbiansYou would think I would blog a lot more while not working but I've struggled for topics. Clearly if I'm writing about 3 ways. (Still on my sexual bucket list as my Mother doesn't read my blog.) I'm not one to care about what's going on in the news. I don't care if the Pope is stepping down before his time. I think the last one was dead about 10 years and he was duct taped up drooling for his public appearances. Still doesn't really concern me.

I did have a great laugh last night. So we all know my TV watching is questionable so of course I found the trashiest show I could find without even trying. It was one of those teen wedding shows. Canadian even! Good to know we have equally stupid kids here who what to get married at 18 cause it's totally cool to have a party with all your friends and like dress up n' stuff! I've watched this before...I will own it. Anyway, this one was two teen lesbians. Now...let me just say I enjoy being a lesbian but I can leave the drama that goes along with it on occasion. I've learned be it 22 or 62 women are drama. Worth it...but drama. So imagine the hormone, overly possessive, nothing to do but love you filled drama created by two 18 or 19 year old lesbians. We are talking the beginnings of drama that will play out for years to come...probably at a bar watching a lesbian singer.

Anyway, both lesbians lived in the basement of the mouthy girls grandparents who raised her. They had been together 2 years and had to get married. Clearly they are fast tracking the entire lesbian experience to coordinate with high school grad. Anyway, the doe and doe took place in a gym with about 12 friends and involved a boob cake and a random almost fist fight. A mom stepped in and reminded them that they were behaving like little kids on the playground. (Maybe don't judge the behavior of kids when you are letting yours make a lifetime commitment that is come very expensive paperwork to get out of.) Anyway the $112 dollars that raised went to the wedding.

The wedding itself was on a Friday during the day, so all the teens had to skip school which they were all bummed about doing since the smart ones had college paper work to hand in. (I was so proud of those ones.) Anyway, the 3 hours before the wedding were spend with the school skippers hanging streamers and decorating while bride one got a fresh coat of pink put on her hair and bride two was super late and bitchy cause she didn't get enough sleep. The ceremony was the usual. It was nice to here there perspective on marriage was "getting to start life with my best friend at my side." I see the 18 year old all the hope in the world point on that statement. Still, I tend to live a bit more real.

So off the 18 year old lesbians go, back to the basement to start life together. Get jobs, move out and think about college. It's a hard go trying to figure out who you are in general be it at 18 or 40. The only thing they seem to know about themselves is they are gay and love each other. I hope that's something that holds them together longer then their first anniversary. Thank god they can't get pregnant!

I should say that I'm not the biggest supporter of making huge commitments like kids and marriage until you have a good sense of who you are. I've watched too many women fall in "love" and completely loose themselves into being a couple or whatever they think they need to be to keep the other person interested. One day they wake up feeling like a stranger in their own lives. I hate romantic comedy's (by hate I mean I watch them alone with total shame) but I do have to say that every woman should take something away from The Runaway Bride.

Julia Roberts character gets almost to the alter with these guys she professes to love but the reporter looking into her story played by Richard Gere asks her how she likes her eggs. During every different relationship she likes her eggs how the guy likes his eggs. He likes camping, she likes camping. You get the picture. She looses herself in the guy but is smart enough to not marry them. As women why do we do this?

Again I shouldn't comment on relationships but one thing I love about myself is I know how I like my eggs and I'm more than happy to lend you a pot or pan to make your eggs the way you like them too. Rhonda Kursackhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07008410375408808712noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6481717164606687773.post-45550083922710853042013-02-17T06:22:00.001-08:002013-02-17T06:22:53.611-08:00Big SaveAh. My favourite day to blog. I was even happy to take the dog out and be woken up by the crisp morning picking up two tootsie rolls of dog poop behind him. One of my favourite things is brushing my teeth and going out in the cold air, it feels amazing. I actually brush my teeth before going out in cold weather just so I can enjoy that 5 minutes of cold mouth excitement.

So, yesterday I made the decision to restart my video game. I had basically finished it and with the extras I downloaded they were not going to work unless I went back to the beginning. It was heartbreaking but needed. My mom asked what I was doing and I tried to explain it to her. Lets back up. So before Christmas I got a play station 3. I hooked up net flicks to it and it's been amazing. I love it. My buddy Rex loaned me a few games and I fell in love with Red Dead Redemption. It's a western game where you are trying to find and kill people who wronged you to get your family back. You get to hunt, kill bad guys and help people. My mother of course has her own take on it. "It sounds an awful lot like that game you played in public school." "What game Ma? Oregon Trail?" I was thinking that she would never remember that. "Yeah...that was fun. I played it a few times when you weren't around." I remembered she liked the hunting mostly because when she was young my grandfather didn't let her shoot a gun. "Well this game is a little more adult. I get a horse, guns and actually blow peoples heads off if I stand close enough to them." She was quiet for a second and said "Well...I can see why you like it so much."

I used to think video games were for kids and teen boys with no hope of a girl touching their penis until the end of college but a few years ago when Rock Band was all the rage I saw women in their 30's and 40's loving the game. For one woman I worked with it was a family thing. She and her husband would play with the kids and when they went to bed they would play together. I don't have the coordination for Rock Band but I fell in love with the western game I've been playing. Its funny playing and thinking about it from a girl point of view. I had my buddy play with me once and he laughed at my excitement when I got a new outfit to change my character into. I am a girl after all.

I think starting over sucked basically because as a girl I wanted to see how the story line panned out. I don't think boys care about things like that but I wanted to know if he was going to kill who he needed to and get back with his wife and son. When that happened I was thrilled...then was thinking "Fuck...now what?" It lost it's luster after that and again when the main character dies and his son takes over with no real powers or story lines. Blows.

So back I go again playing from the start with all the knowledge I learned the first time, Don't you wish life was that way? You could go back to the last big save of the game and start over with a clean-ish slate and all the mistakes made and lessons learned. Who wouldn't? I don't know exactly where I would have made a big save. I think maybe after college? I think I would have (back then) continued on to University for Library stuff (it was way cheaper back then), gotten my BA and hopes for a career. I think I would have made a library career awesome in my own way back then. Either way I would have stayed in school.

On the redo I would have maybe missed out on buying this house but I do think I would have managed to find a great job and maybe an equally cool house. I guess I would have lost a lot in the redo too. Relationships both great and bad, friendships both good and bad and maybe pets. (They were all good.) I do think the biggest redo I would have done would have been my college and university education. Its not that I'm too old now...it's that I'm in a different place now. I'm at that comfortable with my life place and I get that I could do a total shake up and go back to school, but I am not in a place to loose what I have. Or risk it.

So, with everything I learned over the years would I be more successful or happy if I when back to a big save in the game of life? I'm sure there would be parts of me that would be much happier and a little more settled but what fun is that? I would have missed out on a lot of fun and experiences that have made me laugh, hate, grow, run, stay, fall in love, out of love, almost get arrested and of course find happiness in things big and small.

I really hope I still enjoy the game starting almost over with some downloaded updates. If not then on to the next game. Maybe not another western.Rhonda Kursackhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07008410375408808712noreply@blogger.com0
